PIN for the Nordea ID app

You need to choose a 4–8 digit PIN for your Nordea ID app. You will be asked to choose the PIN when you activate the app for the first time. Before you can choose the PIN, you will need a temporary PIN to do the activation. 

What is the temporary PIN? 

The temporary PIN is a 4-digit code you will need to use to activate the Nordea ID app before you are asked to choose a PIN yourself. In other words, you will only need the temporary PIN to activate the Nordea ID app for the first time.

How do I change my PIN? 

You can change your PIN in the Nordea ID app by following these steps: 

1. Open the Nordea ID app. 
   
2. Select “Settings” on the home page. 
   
3. Select your user name under “User settings”. 
4. Select “Change PIN”. 

What if I forget my PIN? 

If you forget your PIN, you should delete the Nordea ID app from your device and re-download and re-activate the app. When you re-activate the app, you will be able to choose a new PIN.

Nordea ID app and QR code

You can use the QR code option in the Nordea ID app to log in to Nordea Netbank and verify your identity in other online services without your user ID.

 

1. Select Nordea ID app QR code as the identification method and click OK.
2. Open the Nordea ID app on your mobile device.
3. Tap “Scan QR code” in the app. This will switch on the camera for scanning the QR code.
4. Focus the camera on the QR code. Make sure the entire code is visible within the camera view in the app.
5. Confirm your login with your PIN or biometric authentication.

 

Don’t forget to log out when you’re done.

Install the app on multiple devices

If your mobile device is lost or broken, you will lose the Nordea ID app you have downloaded to it. We recommend that you prepare for this in advance by activating the Nordea ID app on two mobile devices. This way you will ensure access to your banking services as well as other important services requiring strong identification, such as MyKanta, MyTax or your insurance services. 

Tip: You can use your family member’s device, for example. This is perfectly safe, as everyone uses the Nordea ID app with their personal user ID.

The Nordea ID device is a means of identification offered by Nordea to customers who don’t have a mobile device on which they could install the Nordea ID app. To use the Nordea ID device, you need Nordea access codes.

To use the Nordea ID app, you need Nordea access codes.  

Technical requirements 

To use the Nordea ID app, you need a mobile device, such as a smartphone or a tablet. Technical requirements for your device:

Android: 

• Android phones and tablets 
  
• Android version 7.0 or higher 
  

iOS: 

• iPhones and iPads 
  
• iOS version 15.0 or higher 
  

The Nordea ID app can’t be installed on a computer.

Nordea ID app updates 

• If you are already using the Nordea ID app and have enabled automatic updates, you don’t need to do anything.  
  
• If you are using the Nordea ID app but haven’t enabled automatic updates, update the app in your device’s app store. 
  
• If you don’t yet have the Nordea ID app, you can download it from your device’s app store. 
  

If you can’t find the app in your device’s app store, it may be because your device doesn’t support the app. For security reasons, the app requires a device running iOS 15 or higher or Android 7.0 or higher. Unfortunately, if your device does not support this, the Nordea ID app will not be available to you.

Use of the Nordea ID app requires the processing of certain personal data

With the Nordea ID app you can log in to Nordea’s Netbank and mobile bank and identify yourself to other service providers using Nordea’s separate identification service as made available in the respective services. Use of the code app and its functions requires the processing of certain personal data, and the app must access your phone’s data in the ways described below.

The Nordea ID app processes the following personal data:

• Account and transaction details, unconfirmed payments and payments requiring additional confirmation – these are processed in order for you to use banking services with the code app. Account and transaction details are processed as long as the Nordea ID app is activated.
• IP addresses, time and time zone – these are logged in order to prevent and investigate potential criminal attacks and transactions. The data may be handed over to the authorities, if necessary.
• User-specific device ID – this is required for sending information to registered devices and for generating one-time codes. 

In addition to the above, Nordea collects the following information in order to develop the service:

• Model of the device.
• User interface version and language.
• Type of internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile network).
• User’s actions in the app.

The Nordea ID app needs access to the following features on your phone:

• Internet access – the app needs to be able to connect to Nordea’s servers and systems in order to perform banking services and communicate with Nordea.
• Enabling phone calls – the app needs permission to enable phone calls in order to be able to read the serial number from the phone that is using the app. 

The code app does not send personal data to third parties, with the exception of data required for performing tasks ordered by you such as making a payment.
